Spotlight Niowave Veterans Timothy Barlow served eight years in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Technician and Engineering Supervisor aboard the USS Louisiana SSBN 743. His time in the service taught him the value of teams with diverse backgrounds and the importance of engaging those closest to issues to create solutions. These experiences continue to shape his leadership at Niowave.  Tim expressed appreciation for Niowave’s mission-driven culture. He cited the team’s willingness to share knowledge, step in when challenges arise, and take true ownership of their work, making Niowave a place where collaboration and purpose truly stand out.  Thank you, Tim, for your service to our country and the leadership you bring to Niowave each day.  

Niowave staff recently had the opportunity to explore how AI can enhance everyday work during a Tech Talk led by Niowave’s IT Manager, Cameron Bott. Cameron introduced best practices for using AI safely and effectively at Niowave and highlighted the wide range of tasks AI can support, from drafting and summarizing documents to generating ideas, training materials, and workflow automations. He also walked the team through more advanced AI concepts designed to help staff get the most value from these tools. Spotlighting Niowave Veterans Samuel Ewulomi served nine years in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist’s Mate Nuclear 2nd Class (MMN2) and an Engineering laboratory technician. Drawn by the opportunity to utilize the technical and leadership skills he developed while serving, he joined Niowave as a Radiation Technician Team Lead. He shared, “It is fulfilling to do radiological work in my hometown and Niowave’s culture is great—everyone approaches their work with the right mindset and motivation. Niowave’s MS&T Lead Scientist and Supervisor, Matthew Woodhouse, recently led an engaging Tech Talk for Niowave staff on the Radium Purification Process. Matt explained why radium purification is critical to the production of Actinium-225 and guided staff through the key steps of the process, highlighting the chemistry involved at each stage. He also provided an inside look at how radium target material is purified after use, offering insight into another aspect of radium purification.
