We are proud to share that Matt Benefiel, our trial court administrator of 30 years has been inducted into the National Center for State Courts’ (NCSC) Warren E. Burger Society. Named after the former U.S. Chief Justice Warren E. Burger, the Burger Society honors individuals who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to improving the administration of justice through significant contributions of their time, talent, and support of NCSC. Matt has served as one of only four trial court administrators in our circuit’s history, and the longest-serving TCA for good reason. Throughout his career at the Ninth, he has fostered a culture of innovation, stability, and excellence. His leadership has strengthened court operations and kept the Ninth at the forefront of technology. Matt has also served the larger court community as a member of the NCSC Board of Directors and has been involved in several professional organizations including the National Association for Court Management, National Association of Presiding Judges & Court Executive Officers, and the Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management. This recognition is a well-deserved reflection of the impact Matt has made on our courts and our community. Congratulations, Matt!

During the Fifth Annual Florida Patriot Ceremony, Judge Robert J. Egan was honored alongside six other jurists across the state of Florida for his service to both our community and country. Throughout his time on the bench, Judge Egan has supported the Central Florida community in countless ways. He leads our Inside the Courts annual educational program, helping residents gain a better understanding of the judicial process. He launched the Ninth’s Exhibit A: Family Court Art Challenge in partnership with Orange County Public Schools, and previously, he continued Retired Judge John Kest’s Brown Bag Luncheon series. Judge Egan currently serves as the Associate Administrative Judge for the Juvenile Delinquency and Dependency Court, where his commitment to professionalism and service sets a tone that resonates throughout our circuit. Through his outreach work, he continually promotes professionalism, including civility, integrity, and respect for the judicial system. Congratulations, Judge Egan, on this well-deserved recognition!

Last week, a group of students from Antares Orlando visited the Orange County Courthouse for an inside look at the judicial system. Judge Allen welcomed the students into her courtroom where they observed several motions and plea hearings. Even though it was a busy day, Judge Allen took time between cases to snap a quick photo with the students before court resumed with jury selection. It was another great and educational day at the courthouse!

Our seventh annual Exhibit A: Family Court Art Challenge Ceremony was a huge success! We love to see our local Orange County Public Schools' students express themselves through art and the students really brought this year's theme, 'Peace begins with me,' to life. We closed the night with a special surprise for Judge Egan, presenting him with a well-deserved award as he wraps up his final year hosting this event. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the winners of this year's Exhibit A Art Show. We are already looking forward to next year! If you didn’t get the chance to attend the event last night, you can re-watch our live stream here: https://lnkd.in/eqVEEe2J
