Thank you to Abby Shepherd at Inside Defense for her thoughtful reporting on the Pentagon’s new push for Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) in defense acquisition — and for highlighting insights from HII Mission Technologies President Andy Green’s recent op-ed. As Andy noted, MOSA is a “powerful, yet underused tool” that can accelerate acquisitions and reduce costs more effectively than any other reform currently under consideration. At HII, we’ve seen the benefits firsthand: open architecture enabled our REMUS unmanned underwater vehicles to integrate new capabilities quickly, ensuring continuous modernization across their entire lifespan. The Pentagon’s directive to prioritize MOSA is a critical step toward: • Breaking vendor lock and fostering competition • Accelerating delivery of uncrewed and modular systems for the Navy’s hybrid fleet • Enabling agile production and faster technology refresh cycles We’re proud to contribute to this transformation and to demonstrate how open systems can deliver adaptable, mission-ready solutions at the speed of relevance. #ThrowbackThursday to Nov. 1 our sixth annual Global Day of Caring. More than 450 HII Mission Technologies employees and family members volunteered across the U.S. and South Korea, supporting food banks, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and serving communities where we live and work. Our Virginia Peninsula Food Bank team packed 9,900 pounds of food in two hours. The Food Bank called them "the best volunteer team we've ever had." And one blood donor received word their donation was matched to a patient in need! "Global Day of Caring is a powerful reminder that when we come together with purpose, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most," said Andy Green, president of HII Mission Technologies. "I'm proud of our teams for stepping up with compassion, creativity, and commitment to strengthen the communities where we live and work." Marc Sosa, HII Mission Technologies’ chief information officer, has been recognized by WashingtonExec as one of the “Top CIOs to Watch in 2026.”
Top CIOs to Watch in 2026 - https://lnkd.in/de7jf7Yp In the highly competitive and evolving world of government contracting, companies need to stay ahead of the game and on top of the technology trends driving solutions to customers. But this innovation also needs to happen within and, considering how technology is reshaping the industry, the role of the chief information officer has never been more important. These experts help build internal digital platforms, modernize internal IT infrastructure, adjust operating models, manage incoming innovation, and enhance processes with technology. These standards set the bar high for customer solutions and differentiate each organization from the next. Meet the CIOs with the management and IT knowledge to implement change from the inside out. We’re proud to see Garry Schwartz, COO at HII Mission Technologies, featured on WashingtonExec’s “Rookies to Rockstars” series with Amanda Ziadeh. In the episode, Garry shares how professionals can grow their careers in GovCon by focusing on service and impact. “What I’ve learned is that being visible isn’t about chasing the spotlight,” he said. “It’s about making sure the great work of your team doesn’t go unnoticed. In the military, we’re taught to put the mission and our people first, and that ethos stays with me. But in industry, if you remain a wallflower, opportunities can pass you by. So I tell rising professionals: Be known. Be known in a favorable way, and don’t be afraid to go beyond what’s expected. That extra effort, even if it wasn’t asked for, is often what makes the difference for the warfighter and for your career.” Listen to the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/ehyr5b3m #HIIMissionTechnologies #RookiesToRockstars #GovCon #Leadership #CareerGrowth #InnovationAtHII #TeamHII

In his recent op-ed, Andy Green, president of HII Mission Technologies, underscored why Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) is transforming defense innovation: “Open architecture lets us evolve faster than the fight. It’s how we future-proof the mission. That means faster deployment, easier tech refresh, and mission flexibility at scale.” Read the article: https://lnkd.in/em9SkkyD #MOSA #DefenseInnovation #TechLeadership #HIIMissionForward
