Redefining clinical trials. Providing hope for all.
About us
Lightship is a clinical trials service provider focused on increasing access and ensuring research reflects representative populations. We partner with biopharma, CROs, and academic institutions to design and deliver studies that engage diverse and underserved patient groups, accelerating enrollment while improving patient access in clinical trials. Through targeted outreach and education, we connect with potential participants in their community, building trust and reducing barriers to enrollment. Our decentralized and hybrid trial models, supported by our site network, mobile research units (MRUs), and mobile nursing, allow patients to take part in research that fits their lives whether at home, in a clinic, or at an MRU in the community. By making trials more accessible and patient-centered, we reduce enrollment timelines, improve retention, and accelerate the development of therapies that better reflect real-world communities.

David's message is clear: when we design trials around people’s real lives, participation becomes possible for everyone. In a recent episode of The Healthcare Technology Report podcast, our CEO, David MacMurchy, shares how Lightship is reshaping clinical trial delivery, and why expanding access must be at the center of the industry’s future. David reflects on: • Meeting patients where they are through flexible on-site, hybrid, and virtual trials supported by our mobile research units • Reducing structural barriers that keep many communities out of research for stronger retention and more representative data • Scaling with discipline and purpose, guided by a leadership team committed to growth without compromising quality Read the full blog and explore key takeaways from the conversation: https://lnkd.in/eGi7ykbA #ClinicalResearch #ClinicalTrialAccess #HealthEquity #Lightship

November is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and we’re joining the Alzheimer's Foundation of America in going teal to support the more than 6.2 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease. Teal represents calm, comfort, and compassion — qualities that are essential for caregiving, community support, and research. At Lightship, we are committed to advancing access to clinical research for Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative conditions. By increasing participation opportunities and supporting patients and caregivers, we aim to help drive progress toward better understanding, improved care, and new potential treatment options. This month and every month, we honor those living with Alzheimer’s and the loved ones and care teams who support them. #TealforAlz #AFALightTheWorldInTeal #AlzheimersAwarenessMonth #Lightship

World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week calls for action across sectors to protect the effectiveness of the medicines we rely on today, and for generations to come. At Lightship, we recognize that innovation in research, equitable access to care, and sustained collaboration are essential to addressing AMR. Drug-resistant infections are increasing, yet awareness, investment, and coordinated action still lag. The time to act is now. By strengthening surveillance, improving access to high-quality diagnostics and treatments, and advancing clinical research, we can help protect our present and secure our future. Every informed decision, every stewardship effort, and every clinical study contributes to this shared responsibility. #WorldAMRWeek #ClinicalResearch #HealthEquity #Lightship

Clinical research should meet people where they are, not the other way around. In this new podcast episode, our CEO, David MacMurchy, talks about how Lightship partners within communities to make participating in research possible for more people, especially those who have never had the chance before. Thank you to The Healthcare Technology Report for the thoughtful discussion around access, trust, and inclusion in clinical trials. We hope you enjoy the episode! #ClinicalTrials #ParticipantExperience #Lightship
Expanding Clinical Trial Access: Lightship’s David MacMurchy speaks with RJ Lumba Clinical research has long struggled with a simple barrier: geography. Lightship removes it. Led by CEO David MacMurchy, the company brings clinical trials directly to patients through a fleet of mobile research units and hybrid models that operate wherever participants live. Each unit functions as a fully equipped clinical site—complete with staff, equipment, and digital infrastructure—allowing Lightship to run studies in parking lots, pharmacies, or community centers across the U.S. The goal is access. More than 20,000 patients have participated in studies through Lightship, with roughly 95% coming from communities that previously lacked trial opportunities. By expanding participation among diverse and underserved groups, the company helps sponsors collect data that better reflects real-world populations while accelerating enrollment timelines and improving retention—currently at 96%. Lightship’s teams meet people where they are—partnering with local organizations and engaging directly within communities to make participation possible. That access only works if it’s safe and consistent, which is why MacMurchy insists every site, whether in Los Angeles or rural Texas, meets the same high standard of care.
