  • The E Source Utility Customer Research Consortium (UCRC) is a panel of utility executives from across the US, whose mission is to find opportunities for improvement and innovation in customer service and care. Last week, UCRC brought its members together for its 21st annual meeting with discussions ranging from AI in customer service to affordability and arrearage management. One of the highlights of the event was honoring Sheila Pressley, CCO of JEA, as part of our UCRC Executive Legacy Series. Sheila, who retired earlier this year, shared some insightful reflections on her remarkable career. Congratulations on your retirement, Sheila! We wish you all the best in your next chapter.

  • Last week, the E Source Prepay Energy Working Group came together for two days of in-person networking, presentations of research findings, and knowledge sharing. During a panel discussion led by Salt River Project customer service representatives, attendees got an exclusive look at SRP's prepay program, M-Power. They also brainstormed on goals for next year and how to continue growing prepay as a billing option for customers. A big thank you to our host, SRP, our sponsor, Itineris, and all our participants!

  • Some of our Tennessee-based team recently got into the “turkey” spirit early with lunch and bowling at Pinewood Social in Nashville! 🎳 While there may have been more gutter balls than Butterballs, the team was all smiles celebrating their 2025 achievements. And before you ask—yes, we did just make two (questionable) puns about the Thanksgiving season and bowling. You're welcome.

Every year, we celebrate utilities that create excellent experiences for their customers and provide a supportive and engaging workplace for their employees with the E Source Customer and Employee Experience Awards. This year, Newfoundland Power was our first-place winner of the 2025 Achievement in Employee Experience for its Contact Corner initiative. The utility created Contact Corner specifically for its customer service representatives (CSRs) to provide them with a structured virtual forum with training, updates, and peer interaction, fostering engagement and knowledge-sharing across the eight offices in the utility's service territory. One of our judges said, “I appreciate the intentionality and strategic approach...it gives CSRs the opportunity to connect with one another, have meaningful dialogue, and be equipped and enabled to be more successful in their jobs." Congratulations, Newfoundland Power! 🥳 We also congratulate Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the second-place winner, for its new policy for handling malicious calls in the contact center, allowing CSRs to safely disconnect from verbally abusive calls with the touch of a button.
