    Hello Team,

I am using VideoPress to stream videos, and I noticed that in the browser’s network tab, the full video URL along with a token is exposed. This allows users to access and download the video directly.

Could you please check if it’s possible to remove or obfuscate this token from network requests to prevent unauthorized downloads?

    Looking forward to your insights.

  • Hi there,

Currently, it’s not possible to remove or obfuscate the video URL and token from the network section in developer tools. VideoPress takes reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized access, but complete obfuscation isn’t possible. For more control over video access, consider adjusting your privacy settings to restrict views to site members only. More details on the privacy settings here:

To add more context on this issue, due to how browsers handle streaming, complete obfuscation of video URLs in the network tab isn’t feasible. Streaming relies on the browser’s ability to access video data, which inherently makes it visible in developer tools. This limitation applies to most video hosting services, including YouTube, Vimeo, and others.

    Cheers,
