Food and health are deeply connected — and last week was a reminder of why this work matters. At the American Cancer Society's Taste of Hope gala, I had the honor of accepting the Community Impact Award on behalf of everyone at Factor_. ACS is the largest private funder of cancer research in the U.S., and their commitment to rigorous science has supported researchers who have gone on to earn more than 50 Nobel Prizes over the years. Partnering with an organization that has shaped so much of what we know about cancer — and one so deeply committed to supporting patients — means a great deal to us. 🥗 Since 2020, our work together has provided 169,000+ fresh, nourishing meals to cancer patients, including 51,000 meals this year delivered weekly across 33 hospital systems. 💚 Beyond the numbers, care teams tell us these meals help patients maintain weight through chemotherapy, tolerate treatment when almost everything else tastes metallic, or simply conserve the energy they need for recovery. 👩⚕️ One clinician shared how a patient relying on SNAP benefits finally had a dependable source of nutritious meals throughout treatment — a small intervention that brought real stability during an overwhelming time. For us at Factor_, this is the heart of Food-as-Medicine: reliable, nourishing food that supports people at their most vulnerable, delivered in partnership with the clinicians who know their patients best. I’m grateful to ACS for the extraordinary work they do every day to support patients and their families, and to the Factor team for bringing this mission to life. ✨ Celebrating Diwali at FreshCampus – The Festival of Lights✨ Recently, FreshCampus hosted a Diwali celebration, recognising one of India’s most significant festivals, known for symbolising the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The event was organised by the Desi and Asians Mobilising for Progress (AMP) Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and welcomed over 300 employees and their families. Attendees experienced live cultural performances, traditional Indian cuisine, a dedicated Kid’s Zone, and opportunities for community connection. 🌟 Colleagues from the NYC office also participated remotely. These vans, donated to Agua Fria Food & Clothing Bank, All Faith Community Services, and the Military Support Foundation (in partnership with St. Mary's Food Bank ), will help our partners transport fresh meals and produce safely and efficiently, ensuring more nutritious food reaches families who need it most.
