  • 🎉 Today marks the release of the final episode of our mini-series, SCAW, dedicated to the construction of the viaducts as part of Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport. 🎬 In Episode 3 – Reuse and Low-Carbon, we spotlight our team’s innovative efforts to reduce our carbon footprint 🌱. Examples include: • ♻️ The use of 400 tonnes of reused / recycled steel in our temporary works. • 🏗️ The deployment of a UTB (Underslung Temporary Beam) originally used in 1999-2000, which has since been smartly adapted multiple times for span-by-span bridge deck erection projects worldwide 🌍, thanks to smart adjustments tailored to each specific project’s requirements. 🎥 Enjoy the final episode of our mini-series! We hope you’ve found it both inspiring ✨ and engaging. 🙏 A big thank you to the entire VSL Australia team mobilised on the SCAW project, as well as to our partners and clients: CPB Contractors, United Infrastructure and Sydney Metro.

  • High above a snowy valley in Quebec, a bold red arch bridge is coming to life. ☺️❄️ About a year ago, VSL Canada took on a key phase of the Pont Rouge Arch Bridge project, a striking structure designed to stand out against the winter landscape. With a total length of 109 meters and a main span of 85 meters, the bridge’s bright red steel arch makes a powerful visual statement across the ravine. 🙂 👷 VSL’s team managed the heavy lifting operations, using our strand cable system to safely lift and lower two large bridge sections into place. 🛠️ What we delivered ⤵️ • Supplied heavy lifting materials and equipment • Provided on-site technical support and supervision during lifting operations • Completed all work - including preparation and dismantling - in just four weeks! 😉 The result? A new bridge that’s not only structurally impressive but also adds a unique splash of color to the winter scenery. ✨ 👏 Hats off to the VSL Canada team for delivering this project safely and efficiently!

  • 🌍 A world first, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🤩 🚀 Post-tensioning and timber are now a reality, thanks to our teams in Switzerland. VSL has just completed its first post-tensioned timber bridge on the Koppigen Wildlife Crossing, a unique structure with a powerful environment mission, designed to reconnect wildlife habitats that had been cut off by the motorway between Solothurn and Bern. Timber isn’t usually associated with heavy loads… But this bridge had to support concrete, soil, and vegetation, demanding a structural solution that had never been done before. 💡 The answer? Adapt our post-tensioning systems, long proven in concrete, to work with wood. We developed a custom solution using multiple small anchorages and protective caps to safely introduce high PT forces without damaging the timber. This project is a milestone in sustainable construction, and a proud moment for VSL. 🙂 Huge congratulations to everyone involved! 🎥 Watch the video to see how smart engineering, bold ideas, and teamwork made it possible 😉 Rachid Annan | Laura PERIGAUD | Philipp Egger | Marcel Elsener #TimberEngineering #PostTensioning #Sustainability #KoppigenBridge #BouyguesConstruction #VSL

  • 🚀 Deep in the outback of South Australia, VSL has successfully completed the second phase of a complex anchoring project at the Prominent Hill Mine, 800km north of Adelaide, in the remote Woomera region. With open-pit mining becoming less efficient, BHP initiated the construction of a winder building to support a new shaft system for underground extraction. 👷 VSL was brought in to provide permanent strand anchoring systems, to ensure the structural stability of the winder drum. 💡 What made this project unique? • Temporary works: platform for supporting drilling rig above the winder pit • Twin Jack stressing: 20-strand anchor split into two 10-strand anchors either side of the steel member and stressed simultaneously • Extreme heat with temperatures above 50°C • Remote access, only reachable by air or gravel roads • Onboarding complexity, due to location in a military zone • Tight schedule: completed ahead of time despite the challenges! 🔎 VSL’s scope included: • Drilling, installing & testing 8No. 21m-deep, 20-strand test anchors • Supplying & installing permanent strand anchoring systems • Overcoming logistics with off-site fabrication & early mobilization Thanks to detailed planning, strong execution, and our team’s resilience, both phases were completed safely and ahead of schedule. 😍 A big congratulations to our on-site team for delivering a reliable solution in such a challenging environment! 👏

  • It’s official 😍 the Eternal Wall of Answered Prayer project is underway! Yesterday marked the groundbreaking ceremony for this extraordinary structure near Birmingham, and we’re proud to announce that VSL UK has been appointed as lead contractor to deliver it. 🚀 ✨ This one-of-a-kind structure, a 51.5-meter-high Möbius strip, designed by award-winning Snug Architects following a RIBA competition, is more than just a striking design. The engineering challenge is real: 188 individually shaped segments, each requiring millimetre precision to bring the flowing form to life. The build calls for tailored methods and equipment typically used in bridge construction. 👷 Complex, innovative, and technically demanding - this is exactly the kind of challenge VSL was made for. 😉 Our teams are ready and excited to get to work. 👏 A big thank you to the Eternal Wall team for their trust, and congratulations on reaching this major milestone!

  • 😍 A few weeks ago, VSL Poland successfully wrapped up its work on the new bridge over the Nida River, part of the Nowy Korczyn Bypass. With a total length of 209.4 meters and six spans, the bridge was built in 11 incremental launching stages, featuring a 12-meter-wide, 3-meter-tall box girder superstructure. 👷 VSL’s scope included the supply and full execution of the post-tensioning system, with 78.3 tons of internal tendons, 30.4 tons of external tendons, and the stressing of the launching nose. A great achievement by the VSL Poland team for a key piece of transport infrastructure 😊 📸 Photo Credits: https://lnkd.in/eNTtEwbQ

😍 VSL recently completed the post-tensioning works for the Nye Nerlandsøybrua project, a 574-meter-long bridge connecting the island of Nerlandsøya to the mainland. 🌉 Commissioned by Metrostav Norge AS, the structure was built using two different erection methods: 🔹Balanced cantilever for the central spans 🔹MSS (Movable Scaffolding System) for the side spans 👷 VSL’s post-tensioning system was used throughout, with around 260 tonnes of PT strands installed. Our team got started early (already during pier construction) with vertical cables installed using VSL AF passive anchorages, allowing for easy strand installation after concreting, with no need for recesses in the piers. ➡️ Clean, efficient, and field-proven. PT work began in summer 2024 and was successfully wrapped up in spring 2025. A big thank you to Metrostav Norge AS for the smooth collaboration, and congrats to everyone who contributed to making this project a success! 🙂
