I'm on Monterey, not sure if it's a limitation with the operating system or not but I can't seem to get the "Always Hidden" section to hide. I'd love to stuff the hideous Dropbox app icon in there since they don't have a way to hide it in their app but unfortunately I still see it when I expand it. Is it possible to fix this? As a workaround I could just never expand it. Thanks!

App works, but not very well in Monterey. When showing the hidden menu items, it also significantly increases the spacing between all menu bar items. Collapsing returns it to normal, but it's quite disorienting to have the spacing change when expanding and collapsing this app.

This app is of no use if needed because a user lacks menu bar real estate, which is likely the most common reason a user would want to reduce the number of menu bar items. 

In my case, I have a 14-inch M1 MacBook Pro. I like the convenience of a smaller, lighter, more portable machine but the smaller screen, plus more spaced out layout of the menu bar, plus the wide notch means that there isn’t enough room for all my Manu bar items. I need some way to access these items, however hidden bar does not move them to a submenu where I can do this, but actually just hides/unhides them at the price of adding yet one more icon in my already crowded menu bar. Thus, when I unhid the hidden items, I can access even less of them, because when there are too many menu bar items, MacOS just does not show the ones to the left that extend past the notch. If you just want to reduce visual clutter in your menu bar, then I guess Hidden Bar could be useful, but if what you are looking for is a solution for accessing menu bar items that won’t fit on a small screen, then this app is a hindrance, not a help. 

Instead, what I need is a submenu where I can place menu bar items that don’t fit in the top level menu bar, or something along those lines.

It's hard to believe this is still not a native macOS feature.
